Last Saturday Liz and I had a sweet gig. She flew all the way from the mid-west to come do a couple shows with me, and I got some footage of the house concert we did. So I'm just embedding a few of my favorite tunes of the night:
This is a tune called "Bears," which was written by Jenna Moynihan, a great Scottish fiddler who played with Liz in Folk Arts Quartet:
Johnny Has Gone For a Soldier is a traditional tune that has Irish roots but is common in America, too. We jazzed the rhythm up with a sweet cello pizz riff:
Cold Fish is a jig written by the wonderful Julie Metcalf, a Boston-based Fiddler-Extraordinaire.
"New Time" is a composition by Liz. We condensed her quartet arrangement for fiddle + cello duet:
My friend Cat came up and joined me for this one.
This is a traditional tune that Liz played with Folk Arts Quartet, and that I learned when I played as an honorary FAQ member at a gig in Boston this summer.
There! Now it's like you were there!
